Will Smith admits that he was "threatened" by Janet Hubert

Will Smith goes on to explain his mistreatment of Janet Hubert, the original Aunt Viv in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – saying he felt "threatened" by her.

"People who laugh and have fun were my defense mechanism," he said during the episode. "I felt threatened. At this point in my career, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air really saved my life," he said on Red Table Talk. "The fresh prince represents life."

During the HBO meeting, Janet Will said that treating her meant that she would lose everything. Will apologized and took responsibility for his actions – it was finally closed.

The couple ended their feud during a recent reunion:

"I'm so grateful for all the love and understanding," tweeted Hubert on Thursday. "Will and his team let me take part in whatever I wanted and felt good. After 27 years of separation, we are all different people. It was great to see everyone, life is too short!"
