Stranger Things creator to customize Stephen King’s The Talisman on Netflix

Stranger Things Masterminds The Duffer Brothers keep the creepy mood on Netflix upright: The two transform the Stephen King novel The Talisman into a series for the streamerAccording to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Talisman was written jointly by King and Peter Straub and first published in 1984. The focus is on a 12-year-old boy named Jack Sawyer who goes on a road trip to find a special crystal to save his dying mother’s life. Steven Spielberg bought the film rights before they were even released but never managed to get the story to the big screen. Now he will co-produce the Netflix series as executive producer with the Duffer Brothers, also known as Matt and Ross Duffer.

Curtis Gwinn, who co-wrote and produced Stranger Things with The Walking Dead and The Leftovers, will write Netflix’s The Talisman and serve as the showrunner.

This, of course, is just Stephen King’s latest adaptation for television screens: Paramount + (formerly known as CBS All Access) recently unveiled a limited series version of The Stand starring James Marsden, Whoopi Goldberg and Alexander Skarsgård. Hulu produced two seasons of Castle Rock, an anthology that combined characters from across King’s oeuvre. and a new version of Carrie is in the works at FX.
