SNL: Timothée Chalamet shares love for ‘Weird Little Flutes’ in the music video by Kid Cudi, Chris Redd and Pete Davidson
Never underestimate the power of a “strange little flute”.
Saturday Night Live released its latest music video this weekend when musical guest Kid Cudi teamed up with cast members Pete Davidson and Chris Redd to create a hip-hop homage to their favorite woodwind instrument. Presenter Carey Mulligan was a saleswoman in a music store, while Timothée Chalamet from Call Me By Your Name appeared in a surprise cameo to praise the almighty flute.
In the video, the foursome made fun of the number of hit rap cuts that include the flute front and center, like “Sure Shot” by Beastie Boys and “Mask Off” by Future.
The crew raved about taking over their precious possessions everywhere. “We in the club, this place bounces, the bass pumps, the Cristal poppin / a girl walks up to me, she’s kind of cute, she says, ‘Yo, what’s that in your pants?’ I said, ‘Oh that? It’s my weird little flute!’ ”
The clip even showed the group taking care of their beloved instruments as they spat verses about cleaning the chambers of their flutes and keeping them “as hell” in a sticker-splattered protective cover.

Technically, Kid Cudi wasn’t the only musical guest on Saturday night. Marcus Mumford (Mulligan’s husband and the Mumford & Sons singer) crashed their opening monologue and brought his guitar. Elsewhere, the sketch comedy series weighed on the derek chauvin trial with a fictional morning news broadcast in Minnesota, and the Cold Open featured Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, Kate McKinnon and Alex Moffat as an anchor team of four, which also received the recognition received death from Prince Philip and rapper DMX.
