Planes, trains and vehicles are hailed as the final word Thanksgiving film of 2020

Now that Thanksgiving has arrived, Americans are celebrating the occasion with an annual tour of the 1987 comedy Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Because of its location, it has become a staple for many American families. Many watch the movie at least once a year to celebrate the festive holidays.

Another fan of the film has other plans planned for the day, although still making sure to watch the film. He tweeted, "I have the Thanksgiving episode of WKRP, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and planes, trains, and automobiles queuing today, along with the @dallascowboys game. Am I missing something?"

Better still, Thanksgiving is still bringing newcomers to the classic film over three decades later. A tweet said, "I'm very excited to see Addams Family Values later. I've also rented planes, trains, and automobiles that I've never rented before. I'm trying to make the most of things."

Planes, trains and automobiles played Martin as marketing director Neal Page and Candy as the chatty shower curtain ring salesman Del Griffith. The two travel the country for three days, hoping to get Neal home on time for Thanksgiving. The film is both heartwarming and hilarious and is widely recognized and widely regarded as one of the best comedies of all time. It is also the best Thanksgiving movie for many fans.

A remake of planes, trains, and automobiles is also in the works, with Will Smith and Kevin Hart starring. While the full details of the plot are unclear, the remake will likely portray the two as strange bedfellows traveling around the United States during the holiday season. Ayesha Carr will write the script and a director has yet to be named.

Days ago, Martin tweeted a link to a mini-documentary published online examining the unused footage from the original cut of the film. "Interesting version of PTA for Thanksgiving," says Martin of the video. The deep dive describes the lost scenes from the film from cut footage and pages from the original script.
