Four hours of film, seven pieces of music and a partridge in a pear tree.
The extension of Zack Snyder’s Justice League isn’t just featured in HBO Max’s 242-minute film after the composer was revealed Tom HolkenborgThe score comes as part of a seven-disc collection from Mondo on vinyl.
Like Snyder himself, Holkenborg left Justice League long before the theatrical version of the blockbuster was released by DC Films and its work remained incomplete; Danny Elfman was commissioned to create a completely new musical accompaniment for the all-star comic adaptation less than five months before the first version of the film. The similarities between Snyder and Holkenborg’s respective associations with the Justice League continue as it gets its own four-hour epic.
The limited edition collector’s item contains music every second that the man calls it Junkie XL composed for exclusive streaming, pressed onto seven 180 gram vinyl discs, the final disc being laser-etched with a B-side and a case with black, white and silver foil to match the aesthetics of the film.
Much like most of the film, Holkenborg’s work on the Snyder Cut was vastly superior to Elfman’s work, which was not inspired by the regulars Tim Burton usual standards of the employee. Holkenborg’s previous work over the years has included the throbbing soundtracks of the likes of 300: Rise of a Kingdom, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Mad Max: Anger Street and Godzilla versus Kong.

The collection will be available for pre-order on the Mondo website starting Wednesday, and to celebrate the announcement, Mondo Creative Director of Music Mo Shafeek celebrated Holkenborg’s work and increased his contributions to Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
“The film story behind Zack Snyder’s return to his DC Comics juggernaut is known at this point, but not enough time has been devoted to the journey of the original film score. Tom Holkenborg, the incredible composer behind one of filmmaking’s greatest triumphs in the last decade, joined the unfortunately far too large club of composers in filmmaking history to replace his blockbuster scores. But the big budget redemption sheet in Zack Snyder’s original vision for the Justice League gave Holkenborg an opportunity to build on what he had started many years ago with new skills and tools – this time with no other chef in the kitchen other than his director and Friend. ”
Most of the conversation around Zack Snyder’s Justice League centered on getting the director vindicated by finally getting the opportunity to pursue his unhindered creative vision, but the upcoming release of the seven-disc soundtrack means that Holkenborg will finally do too gets its long-. expected due when his first departure was one of the most overlooked aspects of the entire agonizing Justice League saga.
