John Stamos’ Massive Shot, Turner & Hooch Reboot, Mysterious Benedict Society Get Disney + Premiere Dates

John Stamos will take it to court this spring when Disney + David E. Kelley’s Big Shot launches.

The streamer announced on Wednesday that the prolific producer’s new sports drama will take a bow Friday April 16.

After coach Marvyn Korn (Stamos) was ousted by the NCAA, he took a job at a high school for girls, where, according to the official logline, he “soon learns that teenage girls are more than just X and O”. “They require empathy and vulnerability – foreign concepts for the stoic trainer. As Korn learns to bond with his players, he grows into the person he has always hoped for, ”while“ the girls learn to take themselves more seriously and gain a foothold both on and off the pitch. “

Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) and Jessalyn Gilsig (Vikings) play the lead roles. Kelley produces alongside Brad Garrett (Everyone Loves Raymond), Bill D’Elia (Boston Legal), and Dean Lorey (Harley Quinn).

Next up on Tony + ‘s live action schedule is Tony Hale’s The Mysterious Benedict Society (premiered Friday June 25th). Based on the best-selling YA book by Trenton Lee Stewart, MBS follows a group of orphans who are undercover at a boarding school called The Institute. There they must “thwart a nefarious conspiracy with global repercussions and at the same time start a new kind of family”. Kristen Schaal (The Last Man on Earth), Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) and MaameYaa Boafo (Ramy) complete the cast.

Turner & Hooch starts the following month (premiere on Friday, July 16). In the series ‘sequel, Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) stars as Scott Turner, son of Tom Hanks’ detective Scott Turner from the 1989 original. Scott Jr. is described as an ambitious, buttoned-up US marshal who fought the unruly Hooch inherits and “soon realizes that the dog he didn’t want may be the partner he needs”

The Turner & Hooch ensemble consists of Carra Patterson (The Arrangement) as Jessica Baxter, Scott’s brave, street-smart partner. Brandon Jay McLaren (Firefly Lane) as Xavier Wilson, a cool, enigmatic US Navy Marshal; Anthony Ruivivar (Haunting of Hill House) as Chief James Mendez, Scott’s boss with a secret soft spot for Scott’s new dog; Lyndsy Fonseca (Nikita) as Laura Turner, Scott’s cute, animal-loving sister; Jeremy Maguire (Modern Family) as Matthew Garland, Laura’s dog-loving son; and Vanessa Lengies (Glee) as Erica Mouniere, the quirky director of the U.S. Marshals’ dog training program.

In addition to the originals listed above, Disney + has premiere dates for the High School Musical season 2, the new Marvel series Loki and the Star Wars animated spin-off Bad Batch, as well as other animated offerings such as Chip ‘N’ Dale: Park Life and Monsters at announced work.
