Black Adam will join the pantheon of DC movie heroes and villains, with the hugely popular character being screened for years. Its origins are very close to Shazam! Connected, who made his movie debut in 2019 and was played by Zachary Levi. Similar to Billy Batson (Asher Angel), Black Adam gains his powers thanks to the magician Shazam. He begins his all-powerful career as a supervillain and eventually becomes the arch enemy of Batson and his superhero family.

In the past few years, Black Adam has become an antihero and is now in search of redemption. Johnson previously revealed that this will likely be the direction for the upcoming adjustment. “Black Adam, as he starts out, he starts out as a villain. Then he becomes an antihero. And then he might become a hero or he might not.” Dwayne Johnson said about the portrayal of the character.

In addition to the A-Lister as the title character, the Black Adam film also features a few other familiar faces from the world of DC, including the Justice Society of America or JSA, a legendary superhero team that no doubt comes into conflict with Johnson’s superpower champion becomes . For the film, the Justice Society of America will consist of Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Doctor Fate, who were recently played by Pierce Brosnan. Sabongui and Cusati-Moyer aren’t the only actors currently having secret roles on the project. Aladdin and the star of the Old Guard, Marwan Kenzari, have also signed up in an undisclosed role.

Black Adam is set to be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously directed The Shallows, Non-Stop and the upcoming Jungle Cruise with Johnson. Black Adam has been in production for so many years, and Johnson has been on board for just as long, that many believed this would never happen. The film was originally due to be released in late 2020 before being postponed and slated for December 2021. Black Adam was then postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing global situation, but the cast got together and the project should start production very soon with the long-awaited DC Outing, expected to be released sometime in 2022.
